Rather unfortunately some thieving herbert broke into my parents house last night, and removed my brother's MR2 (along with whatever else they could carry) in the wee small hours.

The car was taken from Chalfont St Peter (South Bucks), and since there seems to be a proliferation of PH'ers in the SE area, i'm hoping to extend the search pattern a bit. The car was immobilised, but they broke into the house to get the keys (all to frequent these days it seems).

Details are:

Dark Metallic Green Mk2 MR2 T-Bar, reg G999 EJB with tinted rear windows (previous owner's addition...) with "ClubSport PIAA" in white lettering on the rear window. Standard Toyota 14" wheels, no other distinguishing marks.

The alternator on the car was stuffed, so hopefully it ran out of charge before getting to lock up or wherever.. The likely fate for the car is stripped for parts or ringing Even though it is "merely" an MR2, parts are pricey and this would not be the first occurance....

Thanks for your help guys'n'gals, although I fear it's the last he will see of it...

*insert massively bitter and abusive rant about theiving scrotes here*

How terrible

I'll be looking out ... I live in Hazlemere so just down the road.

Was this the only car nicked? They usually go for expensive cars (nothing against an MR2 of course, but TTs, Mercs and Porsches are their usual fare around here).

This is precisely why my car keys lie next to my head whilst i sleep - i know of plenty of people who leave their keys in a dish next to the front door!

the only other car there at the time was my parent's cavalier which was left alone, although they stole a full set of keys to it (inc. immobiliser too), and keys to the house. thus new locks for house, car and new immobiliser. insurance should cover this, but jeez the hassle. it's the violation of my parents space that make me the angriest - at least they are ok tho' (although shaken i think), material posessions can be replaced...

the area is pretty afflent, so i'm surprised they didn't go for a different car and house too (plenty to choose from on their road). it's also near a main road and the house is not hidden from the road, so even stranger. mind, at 4am nobody's about...

my own spare keys are safely locked up at the office...

*edited to add* cheers for the eyeballing help, trefor!

Fing thieving scroats!

As you say, though, posessions can be replaced. Thankfully no-one was hurt.

Good News! Car has been recovered from the criminal hellhole that is Slough, apparently pretty much as it was. Best guess is the battery ran totally flat (from non-functioning alternator) before getting to destination. The '2 is now in with the law for fingerprinting etc.., but a result!

if only all car thefts ended this way...

the police also took one look at the house (not hugely disturbed) and said "they came for the car". stuff missing from house was all easily movable objects (laptop being about the worst).

at least we can draw some satisfaction that they didn't get away with all they wanted...

Glad to hear that there is a happy ending. Let's hope they catch the low lifes that did it.

So this could be the new method of stopping your car getting nicked? - a selective battery drain? seriously, good result to get it back. Hope they get some good dabs off it.
