I recall what at superb F1 driver he was in the fifties and his quiet retirement. He is still.l hale and hearty@




What struck me was this pic:

Hard to imagine:
McLaren, Moss,Brooks,Hill,Bonnier,von Trips.....

McLaren
died in 1970 testing one of his cars

Moss survived till recently, happily

Brooks still alive


Hill died in a private plane crash in 1975


Bonnier died at Le Mans in 1972

Bruce McLaren died in 1970.

50 years ago tomorrow.

My late dad worked on the engine for that car a few days before that test session under some strange circumstances.

I hasten to add he was not responsible for putting the engine cover back on. frown
