Have just bought one of these wireless HDMI transmitters:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009E6R89C/ref...

It works great on all devices except my Macbook Pro, with a usb C adaptor.

All i was getting was a black screen.

Ive just tried a hdmi cable from the USB C adaptor straight into my TV, and its still not working.

The TV is detecting a device, as HDMI 1 lights up, but get no picture.

Could this be my USB C adaptor is faulty?(its a cheap adaptor ive had a few years, but usb B works fine), or do i need to change some settings on my Macbook to get this to work?

Anyone any ideas?

Cheers

Have you tried all four of the USB-C ports?

My Macbook only has the 2 USB C ports, and have tried both, exactly the same.

Are you duplicating screen or extending it?

On my old MBP (2013), which I have set to extend (or Mac equivalent?), if I connect the thunderbolt/HDMI cable, the TV recognises it, but until I drag something to second screen, the MBP just leaves the TV on a blank / black screen. Once it's in use, it's fine & get dock, top bar from then on, even if drag thing back off 2nd screen.

Have you checked the display option in preferences is detecting the adapter? Has the adapter ever worked?

No, it does not show anything in the display options, it just has my apple TV which works (just laggy).

I cannot remember ever using the HDMI out on the adapter before.
But the USB and SD card slot works perfectly.

I have just ordered this one to be delivered tomorrow to try: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07H4VQ4BZ/ref...

The first thing to do is to change the adapter.

We have problems all the time with Macs and USB-C adapters, it's a major pain in the ass.

Well the new USB C adaptor just turned up, however exactly the same, wont work.

I then had the brain wave of restarting my Macbook, It now works perfectly.

Wish id thought of that yesterday, before buying another adaptor!!

On another point, the Nyrius works perfectly, absolutely no lag, even in another room without line of sight.

I may get one myself, i was just testing this one for work after I forgot to put a HDMI cable in an office table in a hospitality trailer.
This will save a day of taking things back apart...

Anyway if this happens to anyone, the famous "turn it off and back on again" works.
