I have one of these old fashioned singles and am pleased with it generally. I didn't expect it to be as quick as my other bikes but it feels strangled as if it does have a little more to give. The bikes have been out 6 years now. Anyone done any worthwhile mods to squeeze out a little more punch?

Have a look through the Hitchcock's website, they are pretty much the go to people for Royal Enfield parts.

I would like to have a go on a 535 to see how different they are to my Classic 500 as standard.

For what it's worth, I've just bought one of these to go with some other bikes of mine which are very different..

My one has a sports exhaust (RE's own I believe) a power commander and a K&N air filter. It goes and sounds well and isn't at all strangled, although it's very much a case of a distinct power band. It's all part of the fun when overtaking, kick it up a gear at around 4250-4500 rpm when the best work has been done, and it seemingly takes off again (well as much as 30bhp can)...

All joking asiide, it's a brilliant 'bimbler' It sounds great, and responds to a handful in any gear, exactly why I bought it. Will only do 75/80 or so, but will sit at that all day long. Much better than some would believe...

Pic attached. Now fitted with headlamp mesh grill, tank knee pads and a period (illegal) pressed black/silver plate with appropriate number...
