Right, next couple of weeks I want to commit to actually getting something.
Think the st220 I was looking at has sold.
So, might up the budget a little

Maybe slightly leftfield but at that kind of budget I'd be looking at the Skoda Superb with the V6 and 4x4, I was sorely tempted to buy this one in the link but I think I'm going to keep my Volvo instead for now as a daily.

no no shortlist really, I've looked at A6's and just seem either dated or millions of miles. Any others on the shortlist?!
BMW 5 series is ok but same problem.
I don't really like the skoda, yeah it's got some bells and whistles but it's a cheap passat and it shows.
I really rate these cars especially when you consider the price & performance they're very hard to beat & they're a decent steer too.
There are a couple of things you should do/check up on, the first is check is on the Haldex services have been done if not get it done ASAP (& negotiate accordingly of course) the second is to get it mapped as these have a bit of a flat feel around the mid range (because Vauxhall wanted it to feel like an N/A engine) most maps add 30-40 bhp but it's the 70-80lbft & where it's put in the rev range that makes the big difference.
These did duffer with a timing chain issue but this was sorted by 2009 (the S4/R36 all suffer similar issues) so the one you linked to has the revised setup.

I'm hoping I can snag it for around £6500 including delivery.
might look at chipping down the line but considering it's replacing a 1.5tdci focus (company car) I don't think i'll notice a flat spot for a little while.
I don't think i'm going to find anything better for the money really.
I'd say that's a good around the right price to be buying at get them to confirm the Haldex services have been carried out as it's a FSH car.hucumber said:
