Done it at last, when the covid started I said that I wont be returning to the train and cashed my annual ticket in. My plan was to PCP a bike and I wanted it all in to be no more than my monthly train ticket cost of £325 per month.

The last bike I had was a Honda vfr800 about 10 years back but have not commuted on a bike into London since 1997.

So, I have been talking to many dealers since the lock down started and my remit was simple:

£1500 deposit 15000 mile per year £200 max per month, then that way I have £125 per month to insure and hopefully run it.

I looked at the 2020 model but a Red and Grey one caught my eye, Dean said that's a new unsold 2019 one and only the colours changed for 2020, Dean offered me a deal well within my remit.

I put a deposit on a new 900 gt tracer from a2 bikes in Gravesend yesterday, I dealt with 2 chaps, Dean and Dave, great lads and the bike will be ready the end of next week, cant wait.

I dont have a return to work date yet so I will get a few miles in getting used to riding again, cant wait.

What is the general consensus on these bikes?

I am tempted to chop my BMW for one of these but am only 5ft 7 so not sure if too tall for me. It would be daily commuter and about 7k miles a year. The bmw has been ok, very comfy and great on fuel but a some reliability issues and corrosion that was all done under the soon to expire warranty.

I had a short ride at a Yamaha test day, and loved it. It's now on my "One Day" list to own.

Also, anyone got a view on GAP insurance, I can get the 3 year shortfall cover for just under £100?

I'd probably take it for £100, just for peace of mind.

To be honest, that's what I was thinking and I will be doing 15k per year so quite a high risk that it might get knocked and from past experience I know it does not take much to write off a bike on plastics alone!
