Hi,

I had a set of wheels refurbished about 6 months ago and ever since (despite having the wheels balanced twice) I am getting a vibration through the wheels when travelling upwards of 66mph (yup not 65 but 66 smile ). The car has had (unrelated) new suspensions arms etc so it is not a ball joint/bush and the vibration is modest (as in it doesn't feel as bad as when a wheel is truly out of balance).

The powdercoaters managed to get a bit of powdercoat on the wheel mating faces (the face which attaches to the hub) and so I think this may be causing the issue.

What is the best way to remove this? Obviously I could sand it off but I'm concerned that I'll then end up sanding an angle into the face.

Any advice?

Stanley knife blade and a sanding block with wet and dry paper. That's what I use.

There shouldn't be an issue with damaging the face as long as you don't use power sanding tools like an angle grinder - do it by hand, knife blade as above or a wood chisel to get the majority off and paper on a block for the last bits.
