Anyone know what's going on with bsb this year ?

Touring cars and british gt released there calendars so those dates are out of contention now .

Now i'm seeing trackday organisers releasing there years dates so those dates are also unavailable .

There should be an announcement this week i believe, but from what I was told last week it will be..

Season to start in August.
6 rounds.
It will be classed as a full championship.
Donnington to be rounds 1 & 6
Oulton and Brands for sure, And iirc Silverstone and either Thruxton or Snett making up the other round.

No Cadwell, no Knockhill and no Assen.

Not sure about spectators though? I would imagine that the first couple of rounds at least will be behind closed doors and potentially limited spectators at the later rounds depending on how things go with the R value and government advice.

I don't. But then again I dont really take a great deal of interest in touring cars now so I have no idea what plans they have made.

I'm just hoping if there wont be any spectators allowed to the BSB events, Eurosport will still have their usual live coverage.

Surely with no spectators Eurosport would have a bigger audience than normal .

Surprised there's only one round at Brands but I guess they'll have lots of other meetings to fit in there too. Shame one of the Donington rounds isn't Cadwell instead, but wonder if there's not room at Cadwell to distance all the teams or something?

There is a good video from Higgs which explains the reasons behind the decisions they have made.

But in summary ...

No Knockhill due to it being a bit further away and the requirement for extra overnight stays etc ..
No Thruxton due to the need to bring in extra safety measures, some of which come in from overseas.
No Cadwell because of the dual pit lanes, and cramped nature of the paddock.
And no Assen for fairly obvious reasons.

The tracks that have been chosen seem to be ones that are easily accessible for the teams and provide the least logistical challenges as well as having a reasonable amount of space to afford some level of distancing within the paddock.

Judging by what I've seen them move between other circuits (I've not been to Thruxton) it's probably a large quantity of Safeguard foam barriers.
