Guys,

First service in the M400 is due up and I have a few questions to ask around the group.

1. Indicator stalk. When I turn left and make the turn at a junction etc, the stalk does not auto correct back to neutral. It is OK when I turn right though!

2. Hand brake lever seems a little hot after a drive. Strange.

3. Wing mirror glass vibrates a lot whilst driving.

4. A few little bits and pieces like the driver door still opens after locking and arming the car.

Anything else I need to watch out for?

Great car and a great support from Noble.

Thanks lads,

Jaz,
I had the same problem with the indicator when turning right. The factory put a whole new console on at the 6k service under warrenty. HTH.

3. Wing mirror glass vibrates a lot whilst driving.

Common - some dealers will tell you there's no adjustment but persist as there is!

Thanks guys,

Did you see my point about the warm handbrake and the gear knob...... Very strange. Got the wife to check it out and she to thought the handbrake and the gear knob were warm to the touch after a drive. Anyone else noticed this?

No probs on mine with the indicators, can't help you on that one.

Handbrake in mine gets really hot also. Normal I think as I beleive the cooling is taken down the tunnel.

Mirrors, always vibrate out of line, bl**dy annoying, but I live with it.

My door is ok, so no help on that one.

Kind regards

Ash.

On the hot handbrake, you can try this, it seemed to help mine.

Turn both louvers underneath the car aroud so they both face front. This seems to move more air through the tunnel. I drove yesterday when it was 99 degrees here in Texas and the gearshift was fine. Of course, I don't worry about rain getting up in there since I don't drive her in the rain. I also plan to add another mesh grill behind the rear window to let more heat out. Dean T.

Same hot gear stick / handbrake in my 3R and the side mirrors shake.

In the current hot weather the air con is ineffective as well once the car is driven enthusiastically and the water temperature builds up. The compensation is I had to open the windows and you can hear that engine note even better.

The door lock is an easy one too.

The solonoid still actuates the rod, but the alignment is slightly out, meaning the movement is not enough to actually engage the locking mechanism.

MV sorted ours out "in house" for us.

My M400 had HOT gear leaver and HOT handbrake after driving. Factory provided the dealer with rubber cover to put on gear leaver and that sorted out the heat. Waiting for the hand break rubber cover to sort that one out. Tried changing the plates under the car with no luck

Gear lever certainly gets hot when using turbos constantly e.g. on track - answer is to have driving gloves!

Never use handbrake myself.

Sounds like the self cancel widget has broken - just ask them to get it fixed

> 2. Hand brake lever seems a little hot after a drive. Strange.

TADTS (They All Do That Sir). You can do a few things, but it's nothing to worry about as the centre tunnel is used to get the air con and engine coolant from the rear to the front rads, and so carries a significant about of heat.

3. Wing mirror glass vibrates a lot whilst driving.

TADTS You can have it tightend up, but it tends to work itself loose again. If you are really worried then there is a trick where you put a blob of silicone sealant on the corner of the mirror touching the casing but so you can't really see it from the front. When it sets, carefully cut it away from the casing and it'll provide a bit of "drag" to keep things where you put it. Also - you'll find that there are positions where it doesn't shake at all, but you have to be lucky for those to be in the "right" place for where you are sitting.

> 4. A few little bits and pieces like the driver door still opens after locking and arming the car.

Simple adjustment to the mechanism is all that's needed.

> Anything else I need to watch out for?

They'll do anything else at the service, they give it a thourough looking over.

I had a problem with the indicator not cancelling after the steering wheel fell off. I think I put it back on 180deg out so the switch wouldn't work !
