New laptop can't see old printer

I have a new laptop, windows 10, naturally, and an HP LaserJet several years old that has outlived a few laptops. For some reason this laptop won't print to it. I tried to download drivers for it and even though they appear to be available on the HP website they won't download. Do printers just go out of support eventually?

Is it that the drivers won’t download or won’t install? There should be a compatibility list on HP’s website.

Failing all else you can always try the HP Universal driver as that’ll work with pretty much anything.
