Is it just me or does this seem a bit heavy price wise ?

https://tinyurl.com/yb7ds3hh

I know it was AP's car, but other than the B&O and the Q paint job it's pretty standard really, not even lightweights. We all know that it doesn't matter what an original buyer pays for paint, it doesn't add a copper coin come resale. B&O....ok, nice to have, lets add a grand or so, but as we know it also limits luggage space in a roadster.

As a V12SMR owner I'm defo not trying to talk the price down, as if this is anywhere near accurate then it'll be the first car I've ever bought that went up and not down in value, but what's everyone elses view on this ?

Apologies if this has already been mentioned and I missed it.

It was possibly never actually his car but an AML car he used which was specced by him. I bought an SP10 years ago which was used by one of the top bods at AML, the log book showed AML as the registered keeper, but with the individuals name in there also.

If it was AP's personal car I doubt he'd be selling, as he was instrumental in getting the manual V12S out there. You'd think he would want to keep it.....and I doubt he's hard up for a few bob biggrin

Ex-Directors cars are very different from press cars. They usually run them for 6/9 months, are very well specced and very good buys. Would guess AP ran this for a similar period and it was never owned by him - just one of his “company cars”.

It's a wonderful spec except for the matt / satin finish (in my view). Just doesn't suit the Vantage as much as a decent shine. And it does seem expensive, too. I'd be interested to know how it ended up for sale at Grange. Direct from HQ, or something else?

Hmmm hard one to say, it does have a very expensive and rare paint colour, its a manual and a roadster and has B&O and a fair few CF options, so all go in its favour in terms of cost. Against that is the fact its ex-factory, one of the earliest V12VSMR's and modestly high mileage, but somebody may see the AP connection as adding value ???

All in all - I dunno if the price is right or not, and even harder to say in the current economic circs. I suspect its a marmite car, especially with the matt paint, but somebody will fall in love with and it will then hopefully find a very happy owner.

Agreed, although I still stand by what I said about the paint. I've never seen a car worth a penny more come resale because the original owner chose a paint option that cost £1000's. Mine's Ceramic grey which the original buyer paid £4k for..........I didn't give a penny more than if it had been one of the standard colours.

When I bought my V12SMR, Works checked the book value for me (wasn't a straight forward buying scenario). When I asked about the values when it came to spec etc, I was told that it doesn't really make much difference, it's the underlying car and miles that has the value, not the fact it has different wheels. They said they would obviously tweak prices dependant on the spec (up or down depending), but broadly speaking the options that the new owner ticks doesn't have a huge bearing on the matter (obviously full CF options will add a bit).

Like I said, I'm not trying to talk the price down, far from it. I was just a bit surprised to see it being advertised for that number.

It’s probably just the dealer trying it at that level in case somebody is impressed by its previous ownership. More likely it’s an AM owned car, one of many that AP might have took home at weekends. Not for me with that type of paintwork. Rest of it is very nice though.

would look about right just under £140k to my eyes. Though my eyes would also look at the paint and look away.

wrong, ceramic grey is the only colour that retains every extra penny spent on it because it is the best colour. In fact it adds more than it costs smile

Nice spec apart form the matte finish, it makes it look as though it has been stood on a driveway under a tree for months, not a good look.

Looks to me that it’s a nod to the Redbull F1 relationship with that paint job - but they don’t seem to be making that association in the sales blurb.

Weren't the Red Bull cars just a few extra bits of paint, logos and an extra massive load of money?

Anyway, I agree, it has a whiff of Red Bull about it, which is a good thing. Apart from that bloody paint job.

I think satin paint looks stunning but each to their own (and I'm biased).

I thought I had posted a comment, but perhaps did not press the Submit button.
Therefore from memory.

Doubt whether AP drove this 2016 car after the introduction of the new Vantage.
Advert indicates 2 owners; Red Bull colours with a satin wrap. Does that mean the colour we see is not the actual paint colour?

Small detail, but I thought the yellow calipers might be one more different colour too many.
Light purple body, dark grey canvas roof, red accents, black carbon fittings, yellow calipers.

I don't think it's wrapped, as here is a pic of it when AP had it. I'd be surprised it AML would wrap one of their cars that the CEO was driving........could be wrong though.

I still have it but could perhaps be persuaded.
