I bought the first game on the Xbox and I got so annoyed with the bike handling physics and the lack of updates that I haven't bothered with the new game yet. I wanted to love the old game but just couldn't. On the original game the bike speared right or left at random over brows and oversteering in an uncontrollable way in the bends, both under braking and on the throttle. At least the handling on Ride seems to relate roughly to how a bike would respond.

I've watched a few reviews on Youtube and they seem mixed, is anyone actually playing this? And are you bikers? Given the fact they didn't bother patching the first game and the reviews for the new game (a few months old) suggested that the game isn't finished and needs patching makes me wonder whether it's worth bothering?

So, is anyone playing it? And what are your thoughts?

I've played the first one and found it hard going too, though I attributed it to not being able to feel what the bike is doing and correcting with small inputs, body position, etc.

I've not played the second but I understand they are running some virtual TT races on it over the next week, with some of the TT riders, so I'm thinking it can't be too bad?

I had missed that there is going to be virtual races, that might give us an idea how good the new game is. Obviously the guys playing it will be good though! I like the sound of virtual races around the TT course to make up for the lack of the real thing.

i bought it the other week as it was on sale, i got an xbox accolade for falling off 50 times before i even hit the mountain section. i dont think its impossible, just a lot to learn. i did a lap on a classic bike and haven't played since. might try the other circuits first [think it has the NW200 or ulster GP] as those look less of a nightmare.

i also picked up motogp19 as that was also on sale. that's manageable and obviously the tracks are easier to learn and there's the advantage of having the race engineer and traction/anti wheelie/engine braking etc. i won my rookie season, joined a mid level team for moto3 which means having to run testing profiles to get development points to make the bike more competitive.

neither are going to get close to a sim or the nuance of control you describe. i do find that compared to a car sim, the racing line and your turn in [lean] point are much more important, you can't correct mid corner without losing a ton of time or hitting the kitty litter.

I was stung by the first game. Utter garbage with the worst physics ever.

I’ve heard the new one is a lot better. I’ll prob grab it in a sale.

Not giving Big Ben another £50

I too was TOTALLY disgusted with the first game. I can't believe they let it out the door with physics that bad and if they'd had any decency they would've done a ground up rewrite of that one's physics and released it as a patch that rather than knock out another.

Out of principle I pirated number 2. Can confirm the handling does have a vague relation to real life now. It's not superlative and there is still the odd strange wig out when you're at a deep lean but it is a big improvement and does act sort of like an actual bike now.

If you want to feel what it's like to rip around the mountain then it gets the job done.

I've got the first one and it's a tough game. I feel they should of released it as an update to the original game rather than a sequal though.

Good to hear that the 2nd game is better, I started playing the first one again yesterday and the dodgy handling it the only thing that really spoils it for me. I had so many strange wipe outs today where the bike suddenly oversteers into a wall for no real reason. Like others I was waiting for them to issue an update to the first game to fix the issues and I was disappointed when it never arrived.

I might pick it up at some point, I'm not paying £50 for it though!
