Hi all

I was originally leaning towards picking up an F-Pace (appreciate any thoughts) as need an SUV and you can get a decent Sport/S model for the same price as a mid-range X5.

However, the X5 has the option for 7 seats, and whilst not a necessity, the option feels well worthwhile as read some reviews the F-Pace will be cramped once you chuck in two baby car seats leaving little to no option for a 3rd person to squeeze in.

Anyone have any thoughts on the X5 with 7 seats, and if so, what engine would you recommend if going for a 7 seater? Mostly 7-10K miles per year and mainly town driving as opposed to frequent motorway journeys.

Also how thirsty is the X5 as have heard some scary stories on the level it drinks? Appreciate your help.

Latest model now comes with the 40i engine which is a peach. Fuel difference is negligible, always has been a heavy car but with them being rather modern now the petrol is still good on fuel. Third row a bit cramped but completely fine for short trips, children are fine for long trips in the back as well. They drive very well.

just wanted to bump this up again, anyone here know the sort of space i would get in the middle and 3rd row with 7 seats in a 2019 X5?

I know it's a squeeze and not planning massive long journeys, plust most of the family members are well under 6 foot so even on the odd occasion we need to utilise, think it should be manageable, but appreciate if anyone can confirm?

Am leaning towards the X5 over F-Pace on the internal systems and tech, seems BMW just a winner hands down on the infotainment.
