Struggling to decide between these two. Seem to be a lot more Seamasters in the used network (Chrono2, etc)...

I looked at the Breitling Super Ocean Heritage before buying a Seamaster. The issue for me was the sizing, the large Breitling was too big and the smaller size looked lost. The Seamaster felt much better on the wrist.

Looking at the pictures of those two, the Breitling looks the nicer watch but I'd try them on the wrist before buying.

It'd be the superocean for me - but i'd have to go for the 42 as I think the 44 would be too big for my puny wrists...

Seamaster for me. Probably a lot more Seamasters because they've been around longer in one form or another and Omega are a larger manufacturer than Breitling.
Either is very nice.

Had a Super Ocean Heritage 46, lovely watch. Just you feel it’s heft after a few hours so sold it.

I’d go for the Omega.

I have a Seamaster and love it.
But that strap on the Breitling is beautiful....

Seamaster for me, I've got a 2011 2220.80 as my daily, can't fault it at all!

As previously mentioned great fit on the wrist.

At the risk of being a party pooper, can I say neither? They're both quite dated.

Classic is a better word.

Maybe in Scrabble.

I chose my words carefully. The Breitling less so, but I still think that look is a little passe.

What about the Aqua Terra?

As a general rule I would say Omega > Breitling, but in the case of the specific choices presented, I would go for the Breitling every time.

That model Seamaster: the wavy dial, the skeleton hands and the bracelet - all a bit naff in my view

That model Super Ocean - looks very classy, unlike many Breitlings which look like a typesetter has thrown everything he owns at a sticky plate.

I'd go for the Sea Master but I'm biased, i own one.

Really not a fan of the bracelet on the Breitling though.

Seamaster current gen is a beautiful watch. Real step up than previous gen and beats anything in the price range IMO - looks amazing in the light. I would get on YouTube and see some of the comparison videos.

I also have a current gen aqua terra, beautiful too, but "spec sensitive". Mine is lovely, but thats my opinion. I'll let you judge from the attached.

The Planet Ocean is more similar to the Super Ocean I think. I'd have the SO between those two, and I am a Omega fan.

You may be when the pins start to fall out of the Seamaster’s strap in about 20 years’ time..

Great perspectives & many thanks all. Much as I like the Omega (should have mentioned I’ve owned a couple) I’m currently erring slightly toward the Breitling but it’s def a close call.

As far as design goes I like these two a lot, classic is definitely a fair comment however the aqua terra looks to me a tiny bit 70s. Ymmv of course.

I’ve had a Superocean Heritage recently. 46mm early model so it had the stainless steel bezel. Really liked it especially the Milanese bracelet.

I’d recommend the Superocean however if you did buy one, go for the later mkII model as it has the ceramic bezel which is so much nicer than the earlier model.

I have been looking at the superocean during lockdown, but for some strange reason this or the metal bracelet version is my favourite. Probably because it is so different smile

The Breitling bracelet is the weak point on the SO too. The mesh will fill with sweaty skin and need regular removal and ultrasonic cleaning, but it’s relatively cheap and easy to do at home with a small tank from eBay/Amazon. Scratches will fill the finish and be difficult to refurbish. At some point the mesh will start to give and the bracelets finished - more expensive than replacement pins on the Omega!

I’d be torn between the two, there are benefits to both but the bracelet would be going against the Breitling!
