Hi, our BMW E82 118d developed a serious vibration on idle. Local trusted garage has told us the dual mass flywheel needs replacement. I am trying to save money as I've just been officially notified that I'm 'at risk' of redundancy, so I told the garage I would source the parts myself and they would fit. Having had a google about there's loads of options, could anyone recommend where to buy?

The car is on 92k, we were thinking of changing it as it's getting on but I can't do that as it is, if I was keeping it I'd do the clutch as well but I'm worried something else expensive will go wrong which I really don't need. It was originally my car but my partner uses it now, I was going to trade it in and use it as a deposit then she can make the payments for something newer. Any advice?

Edited to add - Any thoughts on single mass flywheel conversion kit with clutch? Much cheaper https://www.gsfcarparts.com/parts/transmission/clu...

Dual mass flywheels can be problematic in plenty of ways, a solid flywheel conversion you can get away with on some cars - o wouldn’t try it on one of them tho. DMF’s remove a lot of vibration from the drivetrain and Diesel engine have a lot of vibration.

I’d be more tempted to get a used dual mass flywheel from a breaker over a conversion kit if your trying to save money

I bought a dual mass flywheel and clutch LUK kit for £360 a few years back for my old e91 and got my local garage to fit, another £300 from memory. It had done 135k, j took it up to 172k.
It’s not too difficult with the car being rwd.
