Hi Claire,
You would be better to go the BBC site and try 5 Extra, I would not bother with the Radio Le Mans because when it is not cutting out (and I have that as well) it is just a bunch of Amatuers who just happen to at Le Mans! I have made more sense of the French commentors on the official Le Mans site.
I personally like the RLM coverage, both at the circuit and here this year. The presenters aren't a bunch of journo's spouting facts, these guys are enthusiasts and provide a service to english speaking fans everywhere.
I was listening earlier, one of them has been going, as a driver, spectator and RLM presenter since 1982!
Above all, these guys know what they are talking about!

I am sorry these people do not know what they are speaking about. The one fellow in the pits (I think his name was ED) had not got a clue what was going on.
Thank god for Speedvision! As Claire said the service is patchy on the net. I will not be listening to those fools again.
connect via the www.autosport.com web site (or sky 907) - connection has been fine there for days...
The guys there really know there stuff and are a Le Mans institution with absolute respect for the event's history.

Keeps cutting out for me via that site. I've never found RLM to be that bad. Each to their own though.

Do you work for a competitor of RLM or something? You’ve made 4 posts on this thread all putting down RLM. If you don’t like them you can always switch off and listen to someone else. You sound like you’re put out by the fact that you “had to” listen to them. No one forced you to listen to them. And why do you feel the urge to impress upon everyone else how bad you thought they were? I’m sure other people on here can make their own decision on what they thought of the coverage and switch channels if they want to.
Personally I’ve listened to RLM whilst at the race for the past two years and think they are fantastic. I think saying they don’t know what they’re talking about is a bit disingenuous. Some of the presenters have been coming to the race for over 20 years and some are ex-drivers. What specifically made you think the guy in the pits did not know what he was talking about. They notified you of what car was in the pits, what was done (tyres, driver change, how much fuel etc), how long it took and when the car left. What else do you need to know?
Sure they make some mistakes but I like the fact that it’s an amateur radio station run by enthusiasts and not a media corporation’s product. Also RLM is a very British institution that is presented with a great deal of jovial banter and irrelevant humour. Perhaps it was this style of presentation rather than raw facts and a polished TV style commentary that made it seem less useful to you?

As someone who has just returned from Le Mans I have to say RLM adds to the overall experience when you are there and is an invaluable English source of information during Le Mans week.
Agree the occassional signal drop was annoying but aside from that the irreverent commentary, reporters in key places and on the spot interviews were excellent this year.

RLM is one of the highlights of the week as far as I'm concerned. When you've got the likes of Neville Hay, Paul Trusswell and Chuck Tressing (sp?) commenting and commentating with great knowledge and enthusiasm, you know you're in for a good race.
John Hindhough is excellent as an anchorman and his views and emotions are very much evident in his commentary. When the Astons hit their problems, he had you on the edge of your seat. And he name-checked PistonHeads too...
The music's still bloody awful and the girl they had in the pitlane (Lucy Nell?) was a tad annoying but, hey, it's a FREE, informative and entertaining station. And it's English! Thanks a lot guys!

First time I failed to make LeMans this year in years but trackside RLM is absolutley essential. Agreed about Hindhough he is excellent and again agreed about Lucy but she does speak French and she is cute

I didnt think it was as good as last years- they missed several things which were quite important (cars stopping, going off, etc) and "literally lucy" was very annoying- a number of times she sounded like James Allen.
Still, it is an essential service and I am very grateful for them to be there
