apple watch battery drain

wondering if anyone has anything similar or can offer any help- my apple watch (latest one, series 5?) absolutely burns through battery when using apple music.
this seems to only be an issue with apple music though. normally stream through spotify or listen to podcasts and it’s fine. don’t notice any huge increase in battery drain. but this is the second time i’ve been using apple music and it almost kills the watch battery within 30mins.
watch charges overnight, go out a walk or cycle (exercise recording on) listen to spotify or podcasts or even make phone calls and can be out for 1-2hrs, listening on airpods. and the watch will still easily last the day. not had any battery issues at all. use apple music and it’s killing the battery within 30mins.
do i have some settings wrong? is the watch trying to download music instead of streaming? I’ve tried googling but not really got anywhere.
