I have a Rolex GMT II from 2014, which was last serviced a little under 2 years ago. It was functioning perfectly until this morning when I pulled the stopper out a few clicks to advance the hour hand. I screwed the stopper back in again as normal. Since then the hour hand has not advanced. The minute hand keeps perfect time and the second hand continues to advance as normal. If I pull the stopper out to adjust just the hour hand, there is no longer a satisfying “click” as the hour hand advances the correct amount. Instead it advances with a smooth action, rather than the predetermined distance.
Does anyone know the cause of this please? Is this something I can fix? Or is it a return to the shop job?
Since my last full service was less than 2 years ago, if a repair is required, would this be covered under Rolex warranty?
Many thanks

I would get it back to Rolex and point out it was serviced two years ago. I cannot imagine that would give it a two year guarantee. If you live down south you can pop it in yourself to the service centre in West Malling.

It sounds to me as if you have possibly been a little enthusiastic with it when adjusting the hands.

My understanding is that a full Rolex service does provide a 2 year warranty

Indeed it does. I had Miss Moneypenny’s serviced and within a week there was an unusual noise when moving it. They took it back, fixed it and with a fresh 2 year warranty. Worked faultlessly ever since (about 5 years ago now).

Thanks. I dropped it off to my local Rolex dealer today and was informed that apparently it needs to be quarantined before being sent to the service centre!

Even if its slightly out of warranty its worth trying on with them! Best outcome would be fixed FOC and also some more warranty.

I had an email address for RSC manager at St James Square, when my Tudor GMT was there he kept in good contact with me.

Thanks. The Rolex centre confirmed it was in its warranty period so, unless determined to be due to a major impact or something similar (which certainly didn’t occur) it should be covered. Due to being quarantined and a backlog of other jobs it might, however, take 4-8 weeks to get sorted 😭😀
