Been in touch with a dealer about a car that I'm interested in.
Asked for a test drive and was told that there are no test drives, but "you can buy the car over the phone".

Would you buy a car over the phone without test driving it?

Is there a no quibble return policy? Stated in writing.

Is the no test drives only for punters, will they allow a professional inspection service/indie garage to test drive?

Should have said, it's a used car.

Is it priced competitively, or too good to be true?

I bought a nearly new Mini over the phone but subject to confirmation that it was as described upon collection. Paid the deposit and collected it a week later.

If you can't test drive it, can't you at least see it in the flesh?

In that case I'd 100% walk away.

If you bought it would they let you take it away? hehe

Sounds pants to me.

Sounds a bit weird
I bought 6 cars over the phone (of 8 total over life), so for me normal although obviously I could have gone and seen the cars if I wanted to (not sure about test drives)

Yes, it is a reputable used car dealer, so I was surprised.

Is it run by oldies who are higher risk? Or young people.

The only Porsche dealer I've bought cars from unseen and not driven is Tom at 911Virgin, and he's the only one I'd trust. I'm sure there might be others you could trust but you can only go by your own experiences or reviews from people you trust. If you name the dealer, you might get some useful feedback; if it's not a specialist Porsche dealer, I'd forget it and walk anyway.
Good luck.

I have bought a Porsche over the phone from a OPC, paid a holding deposit of £2k over the phone then went to see the car the same day, didn't test drive just looked and started the car in the showroom, I was happy with the deal that was discussed over the phone then paid for it, they delivered the car a week later, still got the car

Non-Porsche but I was told last week that I could not view or test drive the car I was interested in, I asked if they were having a laugh expecting me to spend (okay ... finance) £40k without seeing the vehicle.

Apparently not...

Rang another dealer, no problem viewing or test driving whilst social distancing, ensuring sanitization etc... car ordered.

If you visit the premises or have a 'test drive' first, you can't change your mind.

If a vehicle is delivered to you unseen then the 14 day distance selling regulations apply. You can reject it for any reason whatever, although the chances of a full refund are another thing!

I've done it a few times and so far without problem. But it has always been with low mileage cars and some background checks.

I bought a 911 sight unseen privatey. Turns out the chap is on PH.

Yep, I've bought two cars unseen from Tom and would again.

Not sure I would from elsewhere though.

Who is the dealer? RSJ?
