Need a diesel for driving 400 miles a week

Need a reliable diesel for a weekly commute of 260 miles and running around of 140 miles, have 5k to spend, was thinking A3, A4 advant or 3 series touring presently have an A6 3.0tdi with 200,000 miles and everything seems to be going wrong with it, I have a weekend toy but don’t want to get a completely boring daily, what are your suggestions

The Merc 2.lL 4 pot diesel is very reliable and economical. My current one is on 315k and have had two others in excess of 300k, all with no issues.

You could pick up a decent C Class estate for your budget.
