Glass mirror for BMW 1 series M Sport 2008
Discussion
Hi guys,
Firstly I know nothing about cars apart from driving them 😐
Someone has smashed my right wing mirror glass, I’ve tried to replace it with a compatible one, as original ones are pricey and I begrudge paying for it especially as I was not at fault.
The compatible one does not click in place, I’ve tried various sticky pads but they just come of in the rain.
Can anyone please recommend a decent glass that will click in place and stay in place. I’ve tried to find second hand glass too but they sell them with the whole casing etc which I don’t need and also not working out cheap.
Thank you in advance.

Eurocarparts have them for £36.95 (after you use the discount code which is plastered all over their site).
You mention sticky pads - did you buy a Halfords special? If you buy a "proper" mirror glass (Eurocarparts, GSF, even BMW if you're feeling flush) it'll have the proper mounting piece on the rear. You will have to remove your old mirror glass (incl backing) completely to mount the new one correctly. If there's more damage to the mirror than a broken glass, you'll need more of the mirror assembly to repair it.

You can use www.realoem.com which is the BMW parts number catalogue onlineFirstly I know nothing about cars apart from driving them ??

If you get your VIN number and use the last 7 digits of it; enter that into the box at the top of the Realoem page and it'll bring up your exact car
Find the 'vehicle trim' diagram and in there you'll see the wing mirror information; click on that; look down the list at the wing mirror glass part numbers and select yours.
Enter that part number in to eBay along with 'BMW' and it'll bring up the sellers selling your specific glass. Make sure their picture shows the glass and that it matches yours and go from there
Or, look to order from a BMW parts dealer local to you if you're unsure. Basic wing mirror glass isn't generally expensive, it's when it's heated/chromatic etc that it can start to get into silly money!
