Question on asking for original NIP

I would appreciate a little help and input regarding an NIP for exceeding a speed limit I have received. I have a company car, so I understand that that the NIP would, in the first instance, go to the registered keeper which in this case is a finance company. It then went to my employers and eventually me. It is my understanding that the original NIP has to be received within 14 days of the supposed offence, so as I received my NIP in the middle of May for something that happened in February, I'd like to check the date the original NIP was issued on. If I ring the Police Force concerned, are they obliged to tell me the date is was originally issued or, even better, send me a copy?

You can ask for what you like but it would be more likely its taken a while for the lease company and your company to respond.

They are not obliged to tell you anything, the original NIP was not addressed to you and therefore effectively none of your business. The date the first NIP was issued is irelevant (unless it was after 14 days) it is the date it was received that matters.

Being pre lockdown it is probably very unlikely it was sent late, you could try calling the finance co and see if they still have a record of when it arrived, other than that it's suck it up time.
