I was seriously considering one before I bought the Tuono. Not an all rounder but would have suited me fine as I only go for fun rides and don’t tour or commute on my bike. I did test the 790 and that was good but what with Covid I wasn’t sure when it would be delivered and I’ve heard that build quality (at least for the 690 and 790) is a bit patchy.

Anyone on here ordered one or got one yet?

I haven’t but I was considering one, as I love the idea of them, only ridden the 390 and 1290 to date but they were both great fun.

All the reviews are coming out now and it’s getting pretty good praise. MCN reckon it handles better than the latest Street RS

I was too, then I read the owners reviews of the 790 on MCN and the build quality reported seems appalling. I also know someone who's been involved with the KTM RC390 or whatever it is race bikes for young racers and he wasn't complementary either - and it was serious stuff like wonky cylinder heads and the like.

In the UK the current model year 790 has been discounted down to £7499, where as they're still advertising last year's 790 in last year's colours at £6999. My man maths could've justified the extra for an 890 over a 790 at £8,999, especially if done using a PCP, but reducing the 790 to £7499 causes a bigger step up to the 890. I suppose in a showroom proposition way perhaps reducing the 790 to £7499 helps differentiate the 890 from the 790 with a clear £3K difference in price helping make the 890 more the top notch, dogs danglies machine worthy of the more expensive price?

Both the 790 and 890 are overkill for the types of roads I use and larger, more suitable roads are often busy with traffic and I think in the UK the Covid-19 snitch culture is only more likely to lead to more Dashcam #OpSnap submissions to the authorities.

Neevesy MCN review said it's a one trick pony. 44 Teeth test against the Street Triple R due soon.

Sue Perkins missed out on sunny Somerset. Statham says Superbikes are redundant on the road:
