Hi.
Would my sons VW polo 1.2 match have a chain or belt.
The year is 2013.

If chain, when would the change interval be, as now looking to sell it.
Has done 36,000 miles.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Regards.

D.

Could ring VW tomorrow, but thought I would ask tonight to see.

If it has a plastic timing cover then its a belt, metal its a chain. There is no regular change interval for the chain it should last the life of the car although we all know it doesnt. At 36000 it should be perfectly ok.

Just sell it...although some belts will have a time change date regardless of mileage.

But let any buyer worry about that.

TBH, I'd never trust any seller if they said work was done anyway.

If it is belt the time it has been in requires it to be changed even if the mileage is low (7 years or 70,000m IIRC) so it is down to whether it is a keeper or not to make the decision.
