Mk6 Golf retrofit

Hi there, looking for some advice if possible. I’ve a mk6 Golf 1.6 tdi bluemotion. I cracked the indicator repeater in the wing mirror and got a replacement from German and Swedish. The new part has the option of a courtesy light on the underside of the casing but didn’t come with a bulb or wiring. Is it possible to wire in a bulb for the courtesy lamp and if so, which circuit would I run it from? Will I then have to enable these in the vcds? Secondly, whilst doing this I found out you can retrofit puddle lights in the doors. Again, these would need to be enabled on the vcds. Can I download vcds lite to re code the computer or do I have to take it to vw? Then lastly if I can use vcds lite, do I need the mega expensive cable to link up or can I buy the cheaper ones from amazon/eBay?

VCDS lite doesn't work on post 2004 cars that use CAN for diagnostics so you need the pricey cable I'm afraid.
