Help if you can please..(Chim 500 '97) driving me nuts...pretty much any speed any gear (although lower gears it's more pronounced) it can lose power for half a second and then zoom forward for half a sec then normal. Or it can happen 5 times on the trot as if there's a kangaroo on the accelerator. Then perhaps nothing for 20 miles and it will happen again. Sometimes it realy does feel as if it zooms forwqard, at others just complete loss of acceleration/power for half a sec then normal.

Steve - it sounds like it could be your throttle position sensor. Catalyst cars react very violently to problems with this component.
Only a couple of weeks ago, I replaced one for a freak failure on a very low mileage car (~35K Miles). The shunting is so violent that it is like the ignition being turned on and off quickly.
Since yours is a later car, it should have the sensor with the Gree, Blue, and Brown wires on. These are (Land Rover) part number ERR 2263, and you should be able to get one for around £38+VAT.
As a bonus, it made the car much more responsive
