Driving merrily along in the wonderful sunshine...engine just totally died as if the ignition had been switched off.

Tried to restart, but noticed the fuel pump wasn't priming. Checked the fuses (bloody hot in that footwell!) and found a blown one

Changed it, thinking it must have just blown the fuel pump fuse due to hot fuel or summat. New one just blows as soon as the immobiliser button is pressed.

Turns out it's not the fuel pump fuse, but the 'fuel injectors' one (15A) that's blowing.

Don't suppose anyones got any wiring diagrams?

Not to worry

{optimist mode on} It's bound to be something simple and inexpensive {optimist mode off}

I'm 99% certain that fuse was changed to a 20amp in early 2001 I think, so your dealer should be aware of this and provide you with the necessary "upgrade"

Afraid I tried that one after the second 'blowing' (sounds like a porn film!). 20A in place of 15A.

All that did was blow the ignition supply to the dash and wind the windows (and me!) up

well, that's what you get from buying a car from some dodgy fly by night merchant, that disappears off the face of the earth after selling you the car.

seriously, hope you get it sorted. Have to admit, at 33 degrees in ipswich, I didn't feel like broiling myself in the heatsoak of the trevor yesterday, so fair play to u.

I think the fuse you're referring to is the ignition coil fuse.

Yep you are correct. I have not heard of any other owners with fuses blowing on the Tuscan. I've only ever blown my cigarette lighter fuse due to a dodgy halfords electric tyre pump in 5 years of ownership!!

The electrics seem pretty good in comparison to Griff/Chim or Cerberas. In regard to blowing fuses I mean

Well, this just keeps getting better and better....

The offending fuse is labelled 'fuel injectors' (fuse 19 - 15A).
OK then, removed bonnet, unplugged all the injectors and......it still blows!

Phoned Paul at Austec - he advised the TVR fuse diagram should be taken with a pinch of salt, and it's probably the fuel pump that's at fault (apparently they can jam up when hot).
This could be a glimmer of hope and would tie in with mine not priming when the immobiliser fob is pressed (and the associated fuse going pop).
Tried disconnecting the pump and.....it still blows!

Then tried removing the fuel pump relay and guess what? Yep....still blows....getting a bit now!
Not the fuel pump then.

Then tried unplugging the entire engine loom. Oh, there's a surprise it's blown again!

This is the point that it all went back back into the garage with the (ever larger!) 'pile of bits' and a metaphorical boot up its ass!

Any ideas?

Only thing I can think of is some sort of immobiliser fault, which may be connected to that fuse.
I reckon the only way round this (in the absence of a wiring diagram, which seems as rare as R.H.S.) is to rip the whole loom/fusebox out and draw one up myself. This can only aid any subsequent wiring problems experienced on here.

Why are TVR so reluctant to part with something as meagre as a wiring schematic? It's not like it's a trade secret or anything

Next installment tomorrow chaps.......
