So 3 years ago, 1 week into ownership of a Brand new 2017 Ford Fiesta ST3 (on PCP), my car was broken into.

What was most annoying about my car being broken in to was not that they got it (as there was nothing to steal), but that they tried 2 different methods of entry before ultimately just smashing the window. At the time I obviously repaired the window, but decided to leave the rest of the damage to be dealt with before the car had to go back to Ford or be traded in.

I didn't claim on the insurance as my excess was high and I was in my early 20's without protected NCB.

I am now due to hand my car back or trade it in with another dealer and get another vehicle and want to know if anyone is aware of a cheapish way to repair the damage?

1. Window seal of Drivers side rear window has been slashed. I was told this was a sealed unit and would need the whole window replaced

2. Attempted forced entry on A-pillar of drivers door (slashing black trim and bulging the metal work)

At the time I was quoted £400 for both jobs to be repaired, is there a cheaper way to put the Window seal right, as that is the most expensive bit of the job.

I'd say £300-400 was about right, depending how much the parts are.

Given how damaged they are I don't think you'll get a sensible-cost repair that looks right, just replace the bits.

Dave.

Find a breaker with the door(s)?

Get same colour & transfer the doorcards over etc, or buy the cheapest you can find & see if you can transfer the trims across?

I've got a quote for the window to be replaced at a cool £240 VAT included.

Waiting to see what else comes back!
