I was just walking down my street and noticed a brand new 125 bike with L plates on with the helmet left on the seat. I saw the lad walking away from it towards the shop, I shouted him and said “I wouldn’t leave your helmet mate it’ll be gone by time your back’’. His response “It’s ok everyone will know it’s mine”. Who the F8ck are you?! Must of thought he was someone special. He was around 30, what a complete tit.

Another cringe but very different thing, just before the lockdown we were visiting some relatives, as we were leaving my cousin went to pull the door closed behind my wife, my wife thought she was going in for the hug so hugged her and said bye. I could of crawled out my own skin seeing my cousin unexpectedly having to hug her, she really isn’t the hug when you leave type.

We have a neighbour who keeps putting soppy bks posts on facebook about how wonderful it is that she's pregnant. Wouldn't be too bad but they are those rambling posts, with way too many hashtags.

In a similar vein to the hug you mentioned, I was in a bar that had some music on with my younger brother and he bumped into a friend of his, whose older brother is a friend of mine. I said something along the lines of "Haven't seen you since you were this tall..." and held my hand out maybe 3 foot off of the floor, as you would if putting your hand on someone's head.

He took this as me going in for a handshake, and the weird side-to-side handshake that followed, along with him trying to style it out by pretending to be dancing to the music still makes me laugh when I think about it hehe

Using "of" instead of "have" makes me cringe.

Love the hugging one in the OP, and the handshake one in one of the replies laugh

Your - belonging to or associated with the person the speaker is addressing.

You’re - contraction of you are

People trying to pull you up on your grammar really makes me cringe when they are wrong

A new thread on the 3rd of June in the Supercar General section, titled Job Losses.

Original Poster said:
Even allowing for car/aerospace confusion, there is a dedicated Rolls Royce and Bentley section within PH. Unfortunately the Rolls Royce and Bentley section doesn't accrue as many internet points as posting an article, that you haven't even read, in Supercar General.

After some responses querying the OP's choice of section, and content of the post, OP realises the mistake and on the 4th deletes the original post.

A gift from the gods!, news on the 5th about job losses at Bentley Motors - OP edits the (since deleted) original post to reference that instead.

More confusion in the thread due to the original post changes.

A London apology arrives from the OP on the 10th:

Original Poster said:
I lost interest when people lost their mind that it wasn’t about Ferrari
Nobody lost their mind, the word Ferrari didn't even grace the thread.

Nothing shows a loss of interest more than editing an OP three times over a similar number of days, followed by an extravaflounce.

Thread is subsequently deleted. Cringe gone.

“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book has been rewritten...every statue and street and building has been renamed, every date has altered. And that process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. PH history has stopped.”*

Think you were looking at "your helmet" whereas the chap criticising was focussing on "by time your back".

I have no time for spelling/grammar pedants on the internet in any case, even more so when people might be jotting out a quick response on a tiny phone keyboard.

Ridiculous.

I wonder whether this thread could have the makings of becoming a reborn version of the original PH Cringe Thread hehe

So much gold posted on the original thread, taken from various threads / posts across the forum over the course of a few years, before PH's then owners deleted it frown

Latest cringe for me is people getting outraged online about statues being removed.

I would bet a decent amount that 99% of the people complaining never knew that the statue existed in the first place. An even smaller number would know who the person depicted was, and a vanishingly small amount possess any knowledge of that person's history.

Whether a statue is there or not had no-bearing on the vast majority of these people's lives in the past, and whether it is still there or is removed will have absolutely zero affect on their lives in the future.

Just another bandwagon to jump on, from both sides of the argument.

As in Northern Ireland R drivers? Wasn't it always thus? Newly qualified driving gods. I know I thought I was.

I think lots of people can genuinely care about an issue, but it's very fashionable to dismiss them and accuse them of just "jumping on the bandwagon". Everybody is doing it these days. People who accuse others of jumping on the bandwagon are just mindlessly following the mob.

I think the point is that only a few really care about the actual issue, it's the bandwagon jumping that's the
attraction for the vast majority, " what am I being outraged about today ? "

Being in the herd, not being left out is the important bit

I recon you will run out of phrases to use before PH runs out of people who don't get the joke.
