Yeti - diesel or petrol?

Thinking of a 4WD Yeti as a runabout down here in the sticks, but unsure whether to go petrol or diesel. Won't do a huge mileage, maybe 5000 a year, but concerned that the petrol version, prob a 1.4L 150bhp might lack grunt compared to the similar power output 2.0L diesel.
Anyone got any real world comparison experience of the two? More interested in how they drive. We'd have a manual gearbox ether way.
There's a 170bhp diesel, too, and a hard to find 1.8L petrol engine (160bhp), but the latter is a bit thirsty and taxed to death.

I thought they only did the all wheel drive on the 2.0tsi and 2.0tdi 170? Anyway they are great cars, my parents have had 2 (both diesels), they were very disappointed that they stopped making them so have a Golf SV now. A petrol would be the only choice for your type of usage due to DPF issues.
I had a 140 diesel DSG mapped by Shark to about 175.
Had it for 6 years and loved it.
My mileage is really low...5000 miles but I had no diesel maladies.
Watch out for rust on the doors. I had mine repaired after 2.5 years and more work a year later...check the corner of the doors.
The boot is small, especially with the spare wheel option.

Having owned 2 Yeti's (diesel and petrol) I can give some experience.
The diesel 4wd 140bhp Yeti drove the best, it was grunty but ultimately had issues that Skoda couldn't/wouldn't fix and so they took it back and exchanged for a 1.2tsi DSG. That car was nice to drive, horrible gearbox, absolutely awful (IMO, I know others love it) I only ever got 30-35mpg out of it on a good day for some reason, even with tentative driving.
However, the petrol engine itself was a very good engine. I would imagine a 1.4tsi would be even better. It was punchy enough for me, but not exactly quick.
Personally, I think the diesels of that era are too much of a risk with emissions problems, DMF issues etc...
Edit - I should add that as much as I do like the Yeti, the boot is small, rear legroom is very poor and it is just not as practical as I had hoped it would be. If you don't NEED 4wd (the Yeti isn't exactly a mountain goat) then I'd look elsewhere. I think I was just very unlucky with my 2, but it has tainted my opinion of them sadly.
