Hopefully someone here might know what it is that I am looking for and point me in the right direction.....

1. I want to get my company logo cut into metal (thinking stainless, but other ideas also interest me) about 50-60mm in size, short initial run, perhaps 8? so a really small job.

2. Then on the same basis, but done with a much larger bit of metal, maybe chrome finish at the end say 1 metre in size. The latter being some office wall art.

Should I be looking at laser cutting?

Any pointers for small bespoke projects and anyone here into this kind of stuff?

Cheers

Do you want it cutting out of the plate? In other words you will end up with 1 piece of plate with the letters physically cut out of it?

Or do you want 1 pieced of solid plate with the letters etched in to it?

Thanks for your quick reply, it's a logo with no letters, so just a motif I suppose. I just want to get these cut

I'm assuming that no-one on here who can do such things can actually reply offering to do the work, as I think that means getting banned from PH for at least a short time?

If anyone get's banned in this current climate when the stshow that is the news forum on PH needs closing down, well that's another matter. We should all be able to trade where needed, so that's where I am at least..........

If you or anyone can assist then it's great and I welcome PH people, but early warning it's an initial small/test run also on a lowish budget. I have no idea what is involved. I really want to get the initial small batch done, then the second one would be more of an ego project for my office so not quite a high priority.

Got ya.

That would be fairly easy to get either laser or water jet cut.

What digital format do you have the logo in? Whenever I send stuff out to be profiled I supply them with a .dxf file to use.

The company I have used for years are based in Newcastle and they would be able to do small runs for you.
If you google impressltd you should find them.
I have no links or ties to them personally.

Hope that helps?

Depending on what thickness plate you want it made out of,can't imagine it would be too thick? 4 / 5mm? Water jet would be your best bet. You won't get the heat discoloration around the cut area that you can get with plasma/ laser cutting.

I have a laser engraving business , the machines will cut metal but it takes ages , cutting plastics is easy . We can etch into metal , that’s our bread and butter.
Are your trying to make key rings or metal stickers or something like that ?

One of our suppliers has a laser cutting machine.
They can cut fancy stuff with it.

They’re called Partridge Ventilation & are in Cornwall, speak to Richard or Paul.

Yes, literally the end result would be clean metal and I don't see a reason to go above 5mm thickness, it can be done a little lower perhaps...

Photo chemical etching looks best, but setup cost will be a bit.

Photofabrications in St Neots is who I use, very high quality.

There are plenty of threads where people ask whether anyone can help with something, and people respond by PM and post that they have done so. I don't recall reading that anyone got banned for it. There's a sticky thread where PHers describe their business / trade / profession, which I've always presumed is for precisely that purpose. Posting blatant ads is probably not on, though.

I did find an eBay seller the other day that will do low-quantity runs of stuff, but I haven't tried them. I did get some low-volume (20 items) laser cutting done by a chap from another forum, but it looks as if you have some contacts now.
