Ford Fiesta Turbo Track car
Discussion
Ford purists look away now!!!!!
Here we have mine and a friends new track car project.

A Ford Fiesta zetec s that has had a slight tweak to the engine

Ok I lied, it has had a completely different engine fitted to it, not even a ford one at that. It is a 1.8 20V turbo from the VAG group. Engine code AGU (big valve head so good for power)
It has been converted for a good few years now but I can’t find any information on it from any forums. The only thing I have ever found is an old eBay listing when I nearly brought it 2 years ago
According to that advert it has;
Omex 600 Ecu
BAM injectors
Cupra r inlet manifold
Walbro 225 fuel pump
Front mount inter cooler
Miltek exhaust
One piece drive shafts
Solid flywheel conversion
Front and rear strut braces
Mondeo st220 front brakes
Our plan is to Give it a good check over and fit up rated brake pads and fluid, visually inspect the cambelt and replace unless it looks new, service and a check over then go to cadwell in October (unless it gets moved again)
If anyone knows of the car feel free to let me know
Anyone who is a ford purists.... I apologise but in my defence. I didn’t do the engine swap my self

I’ll bet that is good power to weight with that engine. A zetec s that shape passes me on the way to work and you forget just how small they are!
Google reckon they are 926kg. I have been told it has been remapped to around 180, If you work on google being correct and it being 180bhp exactly then it is 194bhp/ton so it should be able to get a lick onElatino1 said:
I had a mk5 zetec S maybe 18 years ago. Fantastic fun little cars and always yearned for more power. Bet this is great fun.
I’m hoping it will be, I have drove it the grand total of 20 yards so far, on to the recovery truck. Off and on to the ramp to check the rust, then back onto the truck Joshsl said:

It will be fun - I have a stripped out MK6 Fiesta with the 1.6 Ecoboost out of the MK7 dropped in, mapped to 235bhp (230-250bhp/ton as I'm not quite sure on the weight now) and it shifts so I'd say this wouldn't be far off! The 1.8T can take more than 180bhp no problem as well.jase_llan said:

My friend who I have brought it with used to have a mk4 golf gti 1.8t so he knows more about the engine than me but he said because it’s still only got a k03 turbo 180ish will be what it maxes out at, We are going to check it all over. Try and get a map done on it by Rtec (they are local and well known in the 1.8t world). And then see how it fairs on a track day, I have no doubt that a bigger turbo and forged rods will be fitted at some point next year What an excellent combination. About 10 years ago I had a modified Imperial Blue ZS. Put a 1.7 puma engine in it, Gaz coilovers and other bits and pieces. Lately I’ve seen a St170 powered one as well.
I’ve also had a modified BAM which I loved and I’m currently collecting parts to fit one into a non Vag chassis. I really like them and they’re plentiful and cheap.
I will follow this with interest as I’ve never seen one before and it’s certainly peaked my interest. I love non standard engine conversions.

Presumably as long as the engine conversion was done well it should be great.
I would be a bit wary if it is not a 'common' conversion, but that is just IMHO.
It does look a bit strange to see an Audi lump under the bonnet !
I have known the car for about 3 years and not known any major problems other than the cv joint that has gone, and that was because it was being driven enthusiastically around a sprint course. We will probably look Into getting some strengthens drive shafts as we will be using it as a track car I would be a bit wary if it is not a 'common' conversion, but that is just IMHO.

That’s why I liked it, because of how unusual it is, everyone who has seen it has been shocked when I have showed them the engine I’ve also had a modified BAM which I loved and I’m currently collecting parts to fit one into a non Vag chassis. I really like them and they’re plentiful and cheap.

What a fantastic sleeper.
Where?I'm seeing a cool Fiesta, but it's a sporty-looking Fiesta with big wheels.

Ergo, it cannot be a sleeper.

Indeed it was never fast. But it was the sportiest variant of the Fiesta at the time, with a bodykit and wheels.
Ergo, it cannot be a sleeper.
Perhaps not a sleeper. Trick people thinking it’s a light sleep but actually a deep sleep??? Either way people won’t think it will be as quick as it is Ergo, it cannot be a sleeper.

The shafts that are in it are rated to 500bhp so you only need to update the c/v joints
