Haven’t had my hair cut in months due to barbers being closed. Desperate to get it done professionally (wouldn’t try it myself).

When will barbers open? Or, when do we think they’ll open and it be like it used to be? I.e. no Full PPE on staff, social distancing, customer wearing masks, staggered appointments, deep cleaning etc.?

Not until 2021, get some Brylcreem and go for a slick comb back.

Failing that, call your barber and see if he’s up for coming round and doing a bit of ‘cleaning’

I’ve heard both June 15 and July 4, and I’m looking forward to it.
Although the clippers I bought have been exceptionally well handled by my wife, I’ve got waaaay too much barnet for a guy my age, I feel that there’s nothing better than getting a professional to do the job.
One thing that I think is a given, is that after weeks and weeks of earning zilch, and now having to buy PPE etc., I can see the price lists going in a northerly direction.

Just get some clippers and give your head a run over with a Grade 4 or 5 guard.

I hadn't done it before as I normally get my hair cut by a barber but sod waiting around for months on end.

Done it twice since the lock-down, and even though I think barbers might open on the 4th July, there will be queues a mile long so I'll do it again myself this weekend.

Funnily enough, hair grows back so you can't really go too wrong.

My wife is gearing up for a 4th of July start as a mobile/home hairdresser.
I've never had so many haircuts as she keeps testing PPE and working methods.
If you want one soon get calling your barber asap, she is booked up for a good few weeks already. I'm having to take a lot of July off to look after the kids.

I wasn't that brave, used number 8, but with surprisingly good results. I may continue

Luckily a bloke on my shift is a qualified ex-barber. He could have made a fortune by now but he won't take any form of payment.

I went for 5 on the sides blended into 5+ my fingers on top. It's far from the worst haircut I've had, although I did get my wife to tidy the edges as doing it in the mirror is harder than reversing a trailer.

I'm normally a Grade 1 back and sides and about a 3-4 on top. But now I'm Shaggy from Scooby Doo, It feels so strange when it's windy and your hair gets blown around.

I may keep it as the first thing my Dad says to me on Skype each day is to get my haircut. I also walked past someone on the High Street and she didn't recognise me which was a bonus.

Although we're told July 4th "at the earliest" I'm planning on more like the 20th. To be honest I'm not convinced even by then it'll be the right time.

I'm not convinced I can keep the staff and clients safe nor with the extra protocols that will be needed the business case currently stacks up.

My predicted fall in revenue will decimate our margin making the business pretty pointless.

I purchased a decent Wahl & cut my own now, wife does the back
I look like a babe magnet, no more barbers for me!
The better half has maintained hers & it’s natural colour.., but will be first in the queue when they reopen, at vast expense

2 and 4 in my case. That £27 barber kit has paid for itself in 3 cuts! I don't think I'll use the barbers now for a few months.

Normally have a 1 back and sides, trying to grow it to shoulder length by the time I'm back in the office. Hate going to the barbers so it suits me.

I've been cutting my own hair with a £20 pair of clippers for about 20 years now. I've no idea how much a haircut costs these days but I must have saved enough cash to pay for all my trackday fuel over the same time period.

  1. 4 all over, then get the other half to tidy up the edges round the back. 10 minutes work smile

Unfortunately the local barbers, which has been in the village for a decade or so, has closed up permanently because of COVID. I have no idea where to go now and its getting quite scruffy. I am well on my way to looking like Ben Stiller in Dodgeball.

Well, they say the difference between a good haircut and a bad one is two weeks which is probably why I’ve been sporting a baseball cap for the last week...
