Debating whether to renew the warranty on my 5 year old CGTS manual
Does anyone know of any common problems and the likely remedial cost?
I’ve already had the PSE replaced as valves stuck
I am aware of the possible failure of the dynamic engine mounts but clueless as to the replacement cost
Any other common failures?
TIA

Engine mounts are approx £1500 a side from memory. I had my late build 2016 car for 4 years and 12,000+ miles and neither of them went. I'm not aware of any other issues so I didn't extend at 3 years and was never going to bother with the extended warranty.

It's a brave man indeed who runs a German built car without the manufacturer's warranty... smile

In all seriousness it probably depends on the mileage, at least to an extent. I had a number of issues with my old 2.7 981 , all of which were fixed under warranty including a new PDK 'box ! yikes

IME it's never too long either before you get another warning light on the dash...

Last one was engine coils (on the 981).

Must be the way I drive...

One of the other posters on here had I think 30 grand's worth of warranty work.

My 981 CGTS is on 64k, i've owned it for 2 years and have thoroughly enjoyed ploughing on some seriously pointless mileage! I've lost count of the number of 70-mile-round-trips-to-waitrose......

The car has has been literally faultless.

That said i have recently just extended the warranty by another 2 years. It's £1.2k for 24 months, which I think is pretty good value to keep things risk-free.

Cheers
RS

My 981CS at the moment

2nd engine mount failure in 4yrs. It was booked in at Colchester OPC for April but the expected no can do call came. They‘ve reopened now. It’s a warranty job, I’ve been thinking of going indie but dynamic mounts and PDK is food for thought.

Dynamic mounts on mine went twice in 12 months, the rear spoiler never aligned properly and there was a constant rattle behind the area around the rear nearside wheel which no amount of investigations could resolve. These were common with other owners I've met with the same.

I also had a few electrical gremlins and any iPod plugged into the PCM system via the data cable would end up resetting the entire media system. We never got to the bottom of why it was happening.

Nice car though.

I know I'm trolling. But I never had a single issue with my Alpine. :-)

I’ve always taken out the extended warranty on Porsche’s and they have nearly always paid for themselves. Like others here I have had two dynamic drivetrain mounts fail, outside of warranty my OPC told me around £1,200 each to renew. It takes very little to go wrong with a Porsche to cover the cost of the warranty.
I’ve also had two air conditioning condensers go on our 981 BGTS, on both occasions leaking brazed joint connections. Another two years warranty paid for !

laugh Out of interest over how many miles did you run the A110, thought you had sold it on?

Tbf I’ve had no issues with the 718 (yet), despite extending the warranty.

About 4000 in the end - about the same as I did in my CGTS.

My GTS was booked in for new engine mount in April was completed last week . Was £1500 Apparently done In a day under warranty. If I was buying second hand I be getting the 2 warranty for £1200 if you are planning a lot of miles ! Good luck

Thing is you don’t have to be doing a lot of miles. I’ve warrantied it twice now, next one due in September... I’ll likely renew.
