Not much to say really. I know a few germans, I’m not sure they’d expect to be described as a race.

Cleese is right in his opinion of the cowardly BBC although it probably reflects the current crop of TV producers across the board.

All the satirical programs that Frost presented and then the 60/70's 'comedy' series that satirized life in the UK at the time, would never get past the PC editorial dept these days.

Satire is dead, long live Love Island!

Pah!

Is it not the user of the hard N word rather than the Germans that are causing the problem.

I only hope this nonsense is the beginning of the downfall of the BBC.

It was this one. It's not because of the German bit but because the Colonel says the N word. (So I understand.)

And thank god they didn't ban it because of Polly. cloud9

Lol
BBC is the default service. Well worth the licence fee.
PS it has been withdrawn elsewhere too, but don’t let facts get in the way of your prejudice towards the BBC smile

The major is telling Fawlty how he took a women he liked to see India....at the Oval. The woman referred to the Indians as n*****s, but the major put her right. "These aren't n*****s, these are w*gs." Fawlty is shocked by the major's racism, because he's a younger more sophisticated man, not an old bigot like the major. He then goes to see Sybil in hospital, and is shocked when the black doctor comes into the room.

That's the joke. Middle aged white man is a hypocrite when it comes to race issues. Obviously this was 1975 and so it's very outdated. Would never happen today. Not as if we have a PM who sympathies with the BLM cause and stands up to racism, having referred to black people previously as pica-ninnies with water melon smiles.

John Cleese has very sensibly left the U.K. and has no plans on returning, so I doubt if he gives a toss.

Stop funding the BBC, people. Watch Netflix instead.

Easy to get hold of the original episodes anyhow.
That'll be the Netflix that has removed numerous programs and films from its service over exactly the same issues.

That's white flight, if he comes back that's gentrification

Seems like the Left own language now.

Maybe his words will resonate with someone with the power to make decisions but I doubt it.

I can't see any edgy comedy being made again.

On the BBC front it's really easy to stop paying the licence fee. Don't even think I contravene the rules anymore.

I understand the BBC Would still show an edited version of the original broadcast. The UKTV (part owned by the BBC) have withdrawn the unedited version.

Nothing wrong with the BBC.

It's the people that now run it where the problem lies.

UKTV say they will reinstate the episode with the offending dialogue removed within the next day or so. This is in line with Cleese's agreement from 2013, so I'm not sure what the old fool is blathering about.

At least Netflix don't threaten you with prison if you don't pay them.
