Renting a room

Moving out of my house 1st weekend of September. Need to rent a room. Havent done this for a while (doing it to save up money for a year or so) - where is the best place to look for a shared house / room rental.

Looking for somewhere between Newton Abbot and Plymouth. Tried the online sites but they are all crap!

I'd spend time driving around the area, stopping in the odd village/town to peer into the estate agents. Forget newspapers, find an area you like first and search for a property in the papers second.

Find the area you want to move to, and search the newsagents windows. They are full of rooms and houses.
I have just found a friend a house that way. The estate agents had been looking for ages with nothing.
