Mercedes c320 cdi swirl flap motor help!!!
Discussion
I was driving to work during the week when my car lost alot of power and engine light came on. I got my local mechanic to check what problem was and he came back to say the swirl flap motor is the issue and needs replaced. The car is 2007 with 130k i only bought it from a dealer a month ago and he gave me 3 months warranty so he is going to fix it under warranty. Only problem is he is 50 miles away... car starts fine and ticks over fine its just down massively on power. I need to get the car upto him so he can get it sorted he is 50 mile away do you think i could drive the car upto him ok taking it easy??? Im not sure what would have caused this issue local mechanic thinks it could have been caused by an oil leak somewhere from the turbo.
It'll be OK to drive like that.
When you get there ask them to remove the swirl flap spindle and flaps c/w servo motor and fit a blanking plate kit.
This solves the flaps being ingested by the engine and causing valve damage. It won't cost them anymore to do this than repairing the existing problem.
