996 Won't lock - double beep!!!

Hi,

996 will lock from inside car from dash, outside locks then auto unlocks and then double beep.

Any ideas please on what to try first without taking to specialist?

Glovebox, boot / engine lids all closed?

Yep, tried all those, think they may generate a single beep not double? Thanks

That's true, and the car should lock anyway with 1 beep.

Double is when you double tap the button to turn interior sensors off - maybe one of them is failed...

Double beep means you have an alarm system fault. A tester will track it down. A single beep will mean the alarm is working but that whichever part was signalling the single beep is unlocked.

Thanks - double key fob press and it's locked which is better than it sat there unlocked.

Will have to try a few different things but at least it can be taken out and left safe now...

Same thing happened to mine. It needed a new door lock mechanism.
