righto,
hopefully the news is not bad. When i depress the clutch with the engine off i can hear it engage and disengage and its a bit squeaky - car is running fine thoguh. Is this a sign of impending misfortune? (planning a euro tour - via stuttgart in july).
Difficult without actually hearing it, but the squeak could well be the clutch slave cylinder outside the transmission casing...may not be serious at all, you have established that it is coming from that end of the car and the pedal mechanism doesn't need greasing?
A better indication at least over the internet is mileage and how the car is driven.
If in doubt take it to a specialist for a quote, sorry but just a guess online.
I've the same noise and have been reliably informed it's the fingers on the pressure plate giving up. Should hopefully last until the clutch itself goes.
The 1982, had a clutch re-newed only about 2 years ago, which was 'on the rivets'
and that hadent been out of the car since it left Porsche new. or so Mr Spanners reckoned, with factory tight engine
thanks guys. the car has done 89K on one clutch so i knew i was looking at a new one eventually i was just trying to put off the inevitable. At least i've decided on tyre manufacturer now!!
as ace says should be ok.. although in all this heat of late even my 993 is making odd mechanical noises with the car off...!
although I sometimes find that after some hard driving the clutch action goes firmer ? ? any ideas ?
