Name any other flying game thats been a success in recent times. Just the Star Wars name wont save it.
There just wont be the content and variation to keep people interested.

But in those days we had only just progressed from kicking a tin around, we had low expectations.
I dont think the casual players are their market.
They need to make it really in depth like World of Tanks or the space games. Older obsessed players with large wallets.
Otherwise it will just be a fly by night expensive licence.
Also the EA connection doesnt bode well.

The game overview does suggest some kind of fleet battle mode - https://www.ea.com/games/starwars/squadrons/overvi...

So I don't think it will just be 5v5.

It does sound like it could be good I am just concerned there is not enough to justify a standalone game....If i had VR it may be different but I don't so that will be wasted on me....

I was interested in this when i heard about it, as a Huge fan of the old Tie Fighter and X-wing series of games, i would love a game like that but with todays graphics.

The talk of a campaign got my excitement up but then i remembered it will be about 3 hours long and if you play as the empire, you will undoubtedly become a rebel in about 5 minutes.

Gameplay footage is apparently being shown at EA's event tomorrow so see what that looks like.

I am also a bit worried it will be the starfighter assault assets from Battlefront 2, slapped into a 5 * 5 multiplayer....i'll hold my judgement for now.

Oh I completely agree, and after the launch of BFII I am not going to bother with this at launch. It does seem to be listed a bit cheaper than most new titles, cheapest I've seen so far is £34.99, whereas most new games are £49.99.

After watching the gameplay trailer

I’m in, campaign looks okay, I like the sound of the multi player, full VR support on PC and PS4, crossplay and no micro transactions.

It’ll hopefully take me back to the x wing and tie fighter days and I loved the VR section on SW Battlefield

Link doesn’t work but I’ve seen the video.

Actual players will be 5v5 but there will be AI controlled other ships as well so the ‘airspace’ doesn’t feel empty. It apparently has the power management of the original games too where you can shunt power between engines, shields and weapons. I can’t wait!

Have to say this looks really interesting, I loved the old Rogue Squadron games and it's about time we got a successor. Almost too good to be true for an EA game in fact, so I'll wait until release before deciding whether to buy.
