2012 - 14 Superbikes Opinions Please
Discussion
Hello boys
I don't get much time to look on here these days. Hope everyone is keeping well.
I'm getting an itch, not one i'm very eager to scratch tbh. I absolutely love my R1 but its getting time to change i think, my head says yes but my heart says no. TBH if cash wasn't the problem id never sell this bike - Ever
If i do change its going to have to be something i fall in love with. I'm tempted by the TT Ledgends Livery blade. What 2012 - 14 bike would you go for and why ?

I'd be looking at Suzuki/Hondas depending on budget, but that's just me. I wouldn't want an ageing BMW, Yamaha R1s held their value far too well, and I don't know anything about ZX10Rs...
GSXR-1000 2012 onwards came 182bhp, pretty Brembos and, Showa BPF front suspenders. Questionable finish in some places however.
Honda Fireblade 2014 onwards, I believe, had the power output increased to 178bhp (same as the SP which came out the same time, confusing matters). Earlier engines often used oil, not sure about this revision.
If I was desperate for a superbike I'd have one of those, but at that price point some very good naked bikes (Street 765 RS) start to become available which would sway me a lot.

I think I'd have an 1199 Pani, just for the noise and looks.
For noise, (subjective) looks and Italian passion (read: questionable reliability) the Aprilia RSV4 had the Ducati beat imo, with lots of change left over for fuel! The best sounding sportsbike out there bar none.Darkslider said:

They seem loved by the folk that own them.
Any particular reason everyone loves an R1?
I've only ridden the GSXR-1000.
The biggest plus for me on the 09-14 R1 was the engine for road use. The seemingly great mid-range and of course the noise with a decent set of cans and a de-cat.Any particular reason everyone loves an R1?

Ergonomic wise they are a decent size with wide ish bars and 2 settings to move the pegs up or down.
I had mine 4 years from new and apart from a replacement rear shock it was reliable.
I also think they're quite handsome too.
