Hi,
I have an '89 350I and was considering one. There were a few threads a while back with some useful inputs. I decided not too as I'm not sure you really gain much with everything else standard. As a minimum you need a fuel pressure gauge. If you do go for one would be interested to know how you get on.

If he doesn't take it, I will

That regulator was fitted by a very, very prominent TVR garage. I had to take the car back three times after it was fitted for a re-tune and setup. It was quite a number of years ago now since it was fitted but at the time it cost me a bundle in time and money - And as Wyn has said it is now on a shelf in his garage!

Did you notice much difference with it Mike?
To be honest...nope. it picked up a little smidgin better but thats about all. And for what it all cost and for the time and effort in getting the idling and fueling right afterwards I wouldnt bother.
But obviously Dicky has had more luck. I have noticed that the 450 though has a standard no adjustable version fitted as standard.

Well I think I would like to have a fiddle with one so I will contact you via email. after all its not like internal surgery and I am getting bored waiting for BBWF
Being as vauge as possible, to avoid an email from someone threatening to sue me because I've bad mouthed them, despite it being a factual account of actual events. So to protect you all from what the nasty man might say, all of this is heavily censored...
I've experienced an RV8 powered race car with an aftermarket pressure regulator running very very lean this season, because said regulator failed.
Only diagnosed the issue in time because said car had a mixture display fitted (however the car did sound awful and down on power), otherwaise could have been a melted piston in very little time.
Becareful, these things aren't the holy grail.

Iain

Go for it, only an hour or two's work. I would say that its best to fit a pressure gauge to keep an eye on things though.

Fitted one on the 350i and it made one hell of a difference to the throttle response and general power thingy!
From memory all that needed to be set up was the pressure at idle. and the idle speed. No problems at all. And only about 2 hours work.
Richard, not doubting you found it an improvement but are you sure fuel pressure was set up correctly before you fitted it - if it was a bit low or there was a vacuum leak or the old fpr was shot then that may explain the improvement.
Sorry for slight hijack, but I have a Webber adj. FPR fitted (by a main agent years ago when the engine was changed) and am interested to check what fuel pressure it's allowing, as I believe it was increased from standard. Anyone suggest the easiest / safest way to do this?
Hijack over.

Thanks for the prod Darren.
I am investigating who fitted the RRFR and other possible work that may have been carried out by he same company on my car before I bought it (RGS Motor sport. Wellingborough).
The results of which may help Jeff Morgan sleep more soundly. As you couldn't get a credit card between the front of my car and the back of his on the run out at BBWF.
Wee man.
