Guys
Can you advise when you should use a sealant. Obtained different views from different people.
I thought i'd polish and wax my car - I did so and was advised I should have used a sealant afterwards. That was a couple of months ago and told someone at work I was doing the same again this weekend - he questioned if the car needed it after having it done just a couple of months ago. Said I was doing it as I hadn't used a sealant - he told me they were a waste of money and to leave it !
This weekend I am washing the car and going to use Chemical Guys Scratch and Swirl remover - the bottle says to use a CG sealant afterwards.
Can you let me know your thoughts? Complete detailing novice but trying to get into it as I love my car and love looking after it.
Cheers.

A generic term for the last stage product. Some waxes are man made, some are more natural and then you have products that are neither but offer a decent level of protection. chemical Guys Jetseal 109 is a sealant and very good. It doesn't offer the depth of a wax product but does a great job of protecting your paintwork. Nano products are also sealants.
to make you buy another CG product, reality is its saying please apply a protective coat over the top.
the polish whilst abrasive probably also includes microscopic fillers that will make small scratches appear less visible, they're recommending adding a layer of protection to stop these washing away quickly in rain.

A decent wax should last you roughly three months before it needs re applying especially if you wash your car frequently. A sealant may last you longer but rarely offers the same depth of shine. New nano technology products last way longer but require professional application. A swirl remover or a polish is abrasive and offers no last stage protection.
