Hi,

My mother in law is wanting a MiFi solution.. well she doesn't know she's wanting that solution... but she has no phone line connected at the moment in a 2nd home and wants Internet !

After a long stint living in Germany she's returning home for a while, currently the property doesn't have any internet at all. The phone line was removed years ago and would require re-doing by BT / another operator so currently a bit of a none starter.

So I've recommended she gets a data only sim on PAYG and uses a MiFi.

However, I don't really know that much about MiFi's so could do with some advice.

Ta muchly.

I can highly recommend this one from TP-Link. I have one and it's been flawless in the UK, Europe, US and Asia.

Any idea how much data she will need?

I use these:

Never bother to top up, just buy a new one when it runs out.

Hi,

Thanks I'll have a look at the device.

As for data usage, I don't actually know. In reality I'd love to say not that much, I think she'll just have to have it as a temporary measure until a permanent land line is installed eventually.
There is the added complication in that there is bugger all mobile coverage except EE I think, but if she wants a temporary solution she'll just have to try it and see to be fair.

Find her postcode.
Check on Three and EE coverage checker - to determine which one works best in her area.

I'm on EE
I'm paying about £27 a month for unlimited data ( I think the limit is 2TB a month - never got close to that )

I'm using a Huawei B525 Router. ( Much better signal reception than the little mifi's )

Getting between 30 and 60MB down and about 11Mb up consistently.

It is so good - I'm not getting a landline installed.
