Seems a protester ran out causing the motorcycle to stop, the Jag stopped and the Range Rover driver wasn't paying attention?

Twitter video

Obviously they are trained to drive up each other’s arses but I guess trips like this can quickly become routine.

In these protective convoys, the convoy commander is usually the slow-moving motorcyclist directly in front of the first car. They set the pace of the convoy, whilst the other motorcyclists do their thing, buzzing up front, blocking junctions etc.

In this case, the commander chose to directly intervene, which is an unusual choice - the priority would normally be to keep the convoy moving & get the principle away from the threat as quickly as possible. The Principle’s driver clearly wasn’t expecting the commander to stop & the rear vehicle driver was too slow to react.

Some questions will be asked this afternoon!

As I asked earlier, are these police or army?

Another highly skilled police driver in action.
Still, I can't say much, I ran into the back of another car when it stopped suddenly once, 53 years ago, 3 weeks after I passed my car driving test.

I think they deliberately drive 'too close' behind to ensure nobody can get between them and the PMs car. That driver should have spotted what was happening of course, but probably expected the PMs car to keep moving.

I've seen it happen before on TV - Maggie, I think? Much heftier smack between the cars, XJ6's then.

I think he was joking.

I know one of the drivers, I hope it wasn’t him.

Don't upset the poor chap, I am sure he thought he was being helpful.

But back to the Jag, it doesn't look like a great deal of damage done. But you can imagine the driver will get some stick from his mates.
