I replaced the useless, unreliable factory SU fuel pump on my old Sunbeam-Lotus with a Facet Bendix Red Top and Filter King fuel pressure regulator, with full Aeroquip fuel lines.........utterly reliable and much better than stock.

Facet pumps seem to be a little out of favour these days, with Huco 13 3010 pumps flavour of the month.

I'm currently waiting for my latest replacement mechanical pump to start leaking (experience says it's just a matter of time) before swapping to a Huco. you get a choice of 'push' (fuel tank end of the pipe) or 'pull' (engine end of the pipe) pumps and the inlet/outlet connectors can be positioned in whichever direction you need them pointing, which can make positioning/plumbing in a bit easier.

Either way you'll need an inertial cut-off switch, to kill the pump in the event of a crash, and a low pressure fuel pressure regulator.

Thanks, went with a facet one as the hurco's won't flow for the power the engine will make.

The 18 odd years old Holley 12-454-11 fuel pump appears to have given up the ghost on the Camaro, as no fuel is being pulled up. I took the pump off and stripped it as far as possible. Lots of muck inside, but not enough to block it. The diaphragm is also intact, so I’m puzzled as to why it’s not working. The motor in this Gen 1 Camaro is heavily tweaked, it needs a pump that will flow Lots of fuel.
I did briefly consider an electric pump, but need it running ASAP.
I’ve just ordered a replacement Holley mechanical pump via Summit Racing in the States. Fingers xd a new pump sorts it.

I wouldn't be brave enough to run a mechanical pump on a tweeked big-block.......I know of too many go up in flames with no way to shut off the fuel supply.
