Previous Owners...
Discussion
Hi all, I’ve recently been looking for a 991.1 or 991.2 GTS, and having just missed out on one that was perfect I came across another recently that was almost perfect spec, if slightly high on the miles side given I’ll be using it as a daily. One of the things that’s been stopping me though, is the car had had 5 previous owners. It made me discount it, but after mulling it over, it’s a 2015 car so it’s an owner a year more or less; which given I change car that often maybe it shouldn’t put me off....
Interested to hear people’s thoughts - would it put you off? There are plenty of 2/3 owner cars out there, so I’m wondering when I come to sell and I’m owner number 6, will it affect demand?

Personally it would put me off. I would assume that each owner took a short view of the car and therefore trashed it about.
Obviously there might be other explanations. Car first registered as demo, then husband passed to wife due to something as simple as parking permits (London car?). It could also have been put though the business first and last. So in effect it would have been one owner but with lots of registered owner changes.
I had a 991.2GTS and thought it was a brilliant everyday car which i preferred to my 992..When i look to buy a used sports car the number of owners is very low down my priorities..My reasoning is that high end sports cars tend to be kept short term as the owners tend to get bored and want the latest one..I'm very fussy on spec, history and condition which are often better on multiple owner cars as they get a thorough PDI before each new owner..
However only one missed service for me is a big no-no and would reject a car on that basis..Steering feel i much better on the 991.2 compared to 991.1 IME which should be a factor for you as you've been spoilt with your Macca 570.

I think a 911 will generally have quite a few owners, due to being one of those cars that people tick off the list to own. I would however say a 2015 car, in such a short space of time would put me off. If you are looking to keep the car for say 10 years and all the history/bills check out, go for it..

Concur with the above, also many 911's sit at dealers for several months whilst they wait for the next owner. Those past owners may only have had the car for a few months which would trigger my alarm bells.G

5 owners isn't surprising at all for a Porsche like this. If the condition is spot on and the services have all been carried out, etc, go for it.
It's an issue when you come to sell it on. I had it come up a lot when I was selling a GT3. One of the previous owners bought the car remotely, drove it home and got the dealer to come and pick it up.....he didn't like it. Another owner didn't like the bucket seats, gave him back ache...etc
If you can get a history file together and have the reasons for change it helps.
