I’ve looked at buying a Used car today, from Audi UK but they flatly denied any discount at all on used market. I can either pay full cash or use their finance services and have no part ex so think I’d be someone they’d be willing to sell to! Think that’s poor. Anyone got any discount or is he just being a pain.

Fairly common at main dealers unless it's a very high value car or there's an incentive from head office. I think dealers are banking on the rejection of public transport to push used car sales with less stock coming in, so why give a discount when someone else will pay sticker with finance?This article may explain their strategy.
I’m looking at a car and expect the same answer if I ask for a deal. Remember aug is just around the corner.

Fair point but surely someone who has normally been getting the bus to work isn't going to go out and buy a £25k car? IMO people who use public transport are generally people with no license/unable to afford a car and running costs.
I just thought that they would be wanting to sell, all that stock sat there a while.

Err can you please explain why not offering any discount is "poor"?Perhaps if you can't afford it you should look for something cheaper?

It's a complex picture - some private sellers will start to cut prices in distressed sales, then maybe smaller independent retailers...it will take a little while, but I can't see prices holding firm for months and months. If you want to ask for discounts maybe mate till October to December when Furlough ends and reality bits sadly for many people, the market will probably change then.

How is the car priced compared to similarly specced, aged and used cars?
If you can’t find one cheaper elsewhere then it seems reasonable for them not to offer a discount. You shouldn’t necessarily expect a discount on a fairly priced car.
If on the other hand you can find cheaper examples, use them to negotiate or use the dealer with the cheaper car.
I bought a lightly used Audi from a main dealer a few years ago for the wife. I thought it was slightly over priced and insisted on £1k off and dealer wouldn’t budge. I got the impression he was miffed that I’d wasted his time but I had no complaints. A month later the car was listed for a grand less and we bought it. All good.

. It’s up at 31k with two owners and 16 plate ( one of the owners was as a demo ) it’s trade value 27/28. So it’s below market but I think he can do more on it and is holding out for better value due to people sitting on computers during cv19. I’m tempted to say To him on An offer iwith aug in mind or sit on hands for a month and wait for a correction due to new reg plate.

What he said...I like the bit about "mating" until October......I suspect if we continue this economic suicide of not going back to work, many will be laid off, and with no money coming in other than UC prices may well drop for higher end vehicles, but sheds may hold their own? Had a look at selling my car recently as going by basic depreciation trends, at two years old it should be worth about 50-60% of its value new.
Looking back at a thread from last year someone traded a similar car at three years old with around the same mileage, and it had retained 60%.
Got offered 40% by some well know car buying sites, and the same from the dealer I bought it from ... It's worth next to nothing.
Hoping things recover in the next few months - planning on VT'ing it in Sept as I fancy a change, so it'd be nice to be able to trade it instead and get a few £k back. Unlikely though.

OP, ask for some value in a different way, rather than a price reduction.. ask for the next service to be free, or extend the warranty another year. They are more likely to give that to you, which may help you down the line...

Great idea thank you I will try that! Audi offering 2 year warranty, MOT Cover, key cover and roadside assist at min on used which is good!G
