I had a work meeting at a hotel, meeting room booked, went straight to the meeting and didn't realise I was supposed to give them my car registration.

PCN arrives. I emailed the hotel and they said they'd requested cancellation from Parking Eye and then later received confirmation and told to ignore reminders as they couldn't stop them.

Now I've received a document with www.moneyclaim.gov.uk and County Court written on it. Guessing I shouldn't ignore this, but before I log in and presumably just reiterate this, is there anything I should know?

Sure, get yourself over to here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/categories/pa...

They can advise as to the best way to fight this and help you put together a robust defense. Should be an easy win if you follow any advice given. You can also claim for reasonable costs and expenses from Parking Eye when the court awards in your favour should it go to court.

The likely scenario is though that they are just trying it on, even though they know they shouldn't and PE will probably fold before going to court, especially when in receipt of your robust defense which I presume can include the email from the hotel in question.

First of all acknowledge the claim with MCOL

Go back to the hotel and ask them to forward on confirmation of the cancellation to you. Then contact parking eye and tell them the craic. They should be able to stop the process.

Pepipoo http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=60 or MSE https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/categories/pa... should be able to give you some examples and guidance

£100, plus £25 court fee, plus £50 legal representative's cost. £175 total.

Thanks for the advice above. I've filed the AoS, next job seems to be to submit an altered template for a defence.

Also get stroppy with the hotel PE are employed BY them and as such they should TELL not ask PE to cancel.
Trip Advisor works wonders
But as Pav says pepipoo and MSE will assist, but you will have to do some work yourself, they do not spoonfeed you

PE may be contracted by the hotel but I believe their standard contract does not allow the other party to enforce the cancellation of invoices.

The hotel should have considered the damage to their reputation prior to signing the contract.
