You can't get a speeding fine until you admit being the driver.
If you are referring to a Notice of Intended Prosecution, that has to be issued to the registered keeper within 14 days. However, if the car is leased or hired, that may have been done and your name supplied so that would not be a defence.
Does the photo have no clue who was driving?
Pragmatically, you must identify the driver and if the speed is not excessive, take the fine and 3 points although you may be offered a speed awareness course and no points.
If you fail to identify the driver, you will eventually get a summons for failing to identify the driver. There is a statutory defence to that but you're risking 6 points if the court don't believe you.

If you've really only just been informed of the offense six months after it happened, I can't really see how a court could object to the statement "I don't know who was driving". If you asked me who was driving our family car on a particular bit of road six months ago I suspect I'd only have a 50:50 chance of being able to tell you with any certainty.
I think we need to know exactly what you've received - I would say scan and obscure any personal details. Although you might want to do that and post it over at Pepipoo instead.
They only have 6 months to start court proceedings, if they are only at this stage asking about who was driving, then it's all time barred. Fill in the required forms, send them back, all done.
They do tend to leave court proceedings to the last minute, so as 6 months would be 16-6-20, are these actually court papers you've received and this being an evidence pack?

If it really is a NIP received for the first time then you can effectively ignore it as you can no longer be prosecuted and should be home and dry, but you do need to be sure of what you have been sent, it does seem unusual to be so long after the offence. Is the car registered to you?
